INTRODUCTION(Aged 2 Years ~ 4 Years)
MISKL provides a caring, nurturing environment that allows children to thrive and enjoy their learning experience. Learning is based through an integrated model that incorporates the English National Curriculum's Early Years Foundation Stage Framework with topic-based approach, enhanced by free-flow learning alongside the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) that is designed around eight learning principles that are considered essential to children’s learning and development.

EIGHT PRINCIPLES(Eight Principles shape the practice of our “Early Years” programme at MIS)
The earliest years of life are important in their own right.
Children should be supported to learn and develop at their own unique pace.
Play is an essential aspect of all children’s learning and development.
Learning happens when developmentally-appropriate, teacher-scaffolded and child-initiated experiences harness children’s natural curiosity in an enabling environment.
Independent and interdependent learning experiences create a context for personal development and are the foundation of international mindedness.
Knowledge and skills development lead to an increasing sense of understanding when children are provided with opportunities to explore and express their ideas in multiple ways.
Ongoing assessment, in the form of evaluation and reflection, is effective when it involves a learning-link with the home.
Learning should be motivating, engaging and fun, opening up a world of wonder for children where personal interests can flourish.
There are seven areas of learning and development that shape our Early Years programme. All seven are important and interconnected. Three of the areas are fundamental and particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and for building their capacity to learn and thrive. These three areas are :
- Communication and language;
- Physical development and
- Personal, social and emotional development
We must also support the children in four specific areas through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. These areas are :
- Numeracy / Maths
- Understanding the world; and
- Expressive arts and design
We plan an exciting and challenging curriculum based on our observation of the children’s needs, interests and stages of development across seven areas of learning to enable the children to achieve and exceed the early learning goals.
All the seven areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive.
These three are the prime areas:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Children are also supported through four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. These areas are:
- Knowledge and Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Children are provided with a range of rich, meaningful first-hand experiences in which they explore, think creatively and are active. We aim to develop and foster positive attitudes towards learning, confidence, communication and physical development.
